Ah--! I think..? I think that inviting closest ones to a small celebration with cake is great and more than enough. At least for me. [And Akira and the rest of the thieves will probably be the only ones invited.]

I just want to have your present on time. I don't want to be late. [The next part takes him off guard slightly-] Just.. with me? [He's trying to keep his heart from bursting out of his chest.]

[anomies]

[ He'll have to keep that in mind for next year, then — a small gathering with cake. There's probably enough time for him to learn how to bake, if phantom thievery doesn't get in the way. ]

If that's alright with you. Even just a little time would be fine, you don't have to give up your entire day. [ There's a pause, and if he could wink, this is probably where he would aggressively wink. Alas, he cannot. ] Unless you want to, of course.

[Now he just needs to find a right motif for Akira's present. What could he paint for him to like...?

Yusuke moves hair from his eyes, the request warming him from inside. It's weird. Maybe it's just coffee... yeah, just coffee!]

I'd... love to, actually. I am not that busy of a person- except if I'm running late with a painting for a class. [Shit, those are butterflies in his stomach, aren't they!?]n

[anomies]

Alright, then. And in return, I'll offer the same to you on your birthday, alright? I think that's only fair, although... my feelings won't be hurt if you don't want to take me upon on it.

[ He might be teasing just a bit, at this point. ]

Nonsense, I'd be extremely happy if you'd like to spend time with me on my birthday.

[Unless the teasing is really obvious, Yusuke won't notice it.]

I will make sure to have money for a cake.

[anomies]

That's not how it works, is it? I think I'd be the one getting you a cake. Or making it, perhaps. [ And on that note: ] ... What flavor do you like the most?

Then should I make you one for your birthday?

[You asked for it Akira.]

Hmm... chocolate and hazelnuts. A crunchy delight.

[anomies]

[ ..... he's somewhat. Concerned about that, actually. ]

You can bake?

[With a very good reason.]

No. But I intend to learn before your birthday comes. What kind of flavors do you like?

[anomies]

My tastes when it comes to sweets is pretty boring... vanilla and strawberry are my favorites.

[ There's a joke to be made here about how it's the only time he'll ever claim to enjoy vanilla, but he's going to restrain himself from being so extra. And he doubts Yusuke would get it anyway... ]

No need to push yourself, though. Ah, although I guess they say cooking is also an art form.

It doesn't really matter as long as it tastes good. I like strawberries myself.

[He's not a picky person. And yes, that joke would probably fly over his head.]

Baking a perfect cake... with perfect decorations. Frosting, without a single blemish on it, decorated with the most intricate and tasty fruits and chocolate.

[Yusuke chuckles.] Indeed, baking a cake can truly be seen as a form of art. And mine will take everyone's breath away. [He's already having mental image of ""the perfect cake" in his mind. The only complicated thing is how to put that image on the real cake.

He needs help.]

[anomies]

[ ... he's pretty sure that at that level, he will probably not be receiving a cake after all. But that's not really the important thing here; he'd probably take a mess of a dessert, so long as he understands the feelings behind it. ]

If you like, we could try making it together. It'll be my first time baking, too, and it's easier to learn with company, right?

[artcritic]

But... [Yusuke looks conflicted for a moment-] Wouldn't seeing a gift cake beat the meaning of a gift?

[After contemplating for several more moments, he just shrugs-] Well, it doesn't really matter, as long as I spend time with you. [He smiles.] Hopefully, we won't set fire to the kitchen.

[anomies]

I don't think so. It's more about the time and the effort... and the feelings that go into it. And besides...

[ There's a very deliberate pause for him to smile, rather slyly. ] You did promise me the entire day, so it'd just be keeping your word.

[artcritic]

[Why did his heart just did an extremely loud 'thump' in his chest? It's not like he's never seen Akira smile like that.

Focus, Yusuke, focus! And not on his eyes but on the conversation!]

Well, that's true. Very well, we shall bake the cake together. [He reaches for the pocket to get his phone so he can show Akira the galaxy glaze he wants to make. He leans over to show him.]
