I'll see you soon, Fox. And thank you. I mean it.
[It's harder over text, but if his words can convey even a bit of the gratitude and warmth tangled in his chest...
Well. If it doesn't, he'll still see him soon.
There's something nice, he thinks, about being known. Yusuke and the rest of the Thieves don't know all of his parts without the mask, but they still know more than most people. Being seen used to be the thing he used to work so hard to prevent... And he still does, really. But there's a different kind of safety in his most important people being able to guess things about him.
He dodges another run-in on the way out, but makes it to the Broken Wing without too much interference otherwise. He doesn't pay attention much to the treatment process, but that's only because he tenses up when his blood is drawn and doesn't interact with the staff much after that (even when one of them cheerfully presses complimentary condoms and lube packages into his hands because he looks "down").
The moment he gets to the waiting room and sees Yusuke, however, his entire body goes loose and relaxed again, smile tired but true.]
Hey, Yusuke.
no subject
It doesn't take long for him to reach the medical ward of this place, especially when he's now in a hurry to see Akira. He's not stopped from entering the room, more like- encouraged!- to go and 'check on his friend' (it was said in such a high-pitched voice even Yusuke got suspicious of it).
He sighs, happy to see Akira being taken care of, for the most part, and it feels like some of the worry has been lifted from his chest.]
It's good to see you, [his voice is full of sincerity and relief, and smiles back.] I am also glad you weren't too stubborn to come here. [He'll never understand those people.]
no subject
I like getting into trouble, but it's good to know when to get out of it, too. [He pats the bandaged area on his arm, easily visible now that part of his sleeve's been torn off.] They healed me up pretty good, though. Doesn't even hurt anymore.
[Akira didn't really feel the effects of the poison, so he can only surmise that he got here in enough time... He owes Yusuke one for that, too.]
How long have those things been in the basement for?
no subject
That is good to hear. [He gives the arm a look and then nods,] If you feel well, we can leave now. [The increased giggling is actually starting to get to his nerves.]
I can't say for certain. At first, there were a few every now and then from the reports I've seen, but then there was a full-blown attack for a week or so. They managed to crawl up all the way to the foyer. My room is on the higher floor, so I was fine. [If only by luck.]
no subject
[A week of being under attack... A week of people that he might know and care about being attacked by those things while he was stuck in that weird pocket of time. There's nothing Akira can do about things that have already happened, but... It still sits wrong with him.]
I guess I was just unfortunate enough to deal with the remnants, but... I'm glad they didn't go any higher.
[It gives him a chill. The difference of just a few numbers could've been the difference between Yusuke getting attacked or not. And if not that, if Akechi's rank hadn't increased... If Yusuke had been with him down in the lower floors and they'd both been attacked by those things while Akira was none the wiser-
Another round of giggling cuts through the thoughts in his head, sending them scattering, as well as the murmurs of that taller boy is so handsome. It's nice to hear somehow, but Yusuke's also right - it's time to go.]
Let's get going for now. You can update me about anything else on the way. [He stands and tucks his new "gifts" into his pocket. They're still in this place, after all; better not to waste it.] Are we heading to your room, or did you need to make any stops first? [A beat of silence, and then-] Have you been eating alright?
no subject
So am I, [Yusuke admits. They don't have their powers here, he at least, so there was nothing he could've done to protect the others.
The giggling makes him twitch a little, a bit annoying, but not uncommon in this place. He should get used to it by now, but somehow he isn't. He does his best to focus on his friend in front of him.]
Of course. [He steps back so Akira can get up and they make their way out of the infirmary.] Yes, from what I heard, all rooms from underneath the lobby and lower got ruined by the attack. Besides, with those things around, I'm not letting you sleep down there. [You can bet your ass he went to see where 2's are and he did NOT like it.]
That's a good point, we can stop to get some food. [He doesn't have a kitchen so it's usually everything he can take with him.] There are delicious pastries once you manage to weed out ones that are laced from ones that aren't. [To think this is his reality now- watching if his food is laced with aphrodisiacs and talking about it like it's an everyday affair.]
no subject
[Akira's only fortunate in that he hasn't had many aphrodisiac incidents in front of people. He's definitely still had enough to immediately know what Yusuke means, for better or worse.]
I don't mind cooking either, though. If you don't have the setup for it, I can always throw together something that doesn't need much prep. [If there isn't anything to boil water, even onigiri would be a challenge... But he'll still think of something. After all-] It's the least I can do, if we'll be staying together for a bit.
[Outside of the infirmary, Akira feels like he can relax a little more, the atmosphere brought on by the nurses left behind with them.
He's less used to going to the cafes nowadays, always saving on chips where he can, but if it's with Yusuke... He doesn't mind going at all. It's nice to indulge every once in a while, after all.
Maybe all of this is good, in its own way. He hasn't spent even half as much time with Yusuke as he'd like to lately, and like this... he'll be able to look out for him a little more. Make sure he's eating and taking care of himself.]
no subject
[The things didn't escalate, thankfully, especially because he ran into Akechi moments later. He was way too pissed with the man to focus on anything else that isn't the man in question. Too worried that he was going to go off rail and start trouble. It ended with a very... weird(?) conversation.]
Unfortunately, I do not have a kitchen in my suite. [It's beautifully furnished, but no kitchen or kitchen aids.] We could buy some cup noodles and find a microwave? Perhaps in the convenience store?
[The only thing Yusuke has been spending his chips on is art material, which had kept him sane all this time. His food intake was (still is) 50-50, but better than what it was back home, surprisingly.
He happily leads the way to the lobby level and where all the shops are.] I have to admit, [he says as they pass one of the drinking places,] I miss your coffee.
