OH! [Yes, he can see it as a joke now. And looks properly embarrassed for not catching it on time and letting it fly over his head.
It doesn't last too long. Akira's eating the popcorn, and Yusuke's curious.
He hit the nail on the head when describing these things.]
No. And yet somehow, after eating a few pieces and getting used to it, it's not so bad.
[So it's interesting.]
no subject
[after finishing the first piece, Akira grabs himself a whole handful, this time tossing three or four into his mouth at once. all to better assess the flavor!! except. . .]
[. . . nope, it tastes the same. still not bad, but kind of weird?]
. . . huh. I don't know if I care for snacks that I have to "get used to," but my horizons have been broadened today.
no subject
[Putting the snacks down, he goes to look through the movies Akira brought over for "snack time"; he doesn't expect anything they know from back home, only cheesy romance in the first ten minutes and sex the rest of the hour and a half.]
I wonder if these have any sort of plot...
no subject
[cheers to new experiences! he'll probably finish off the bag of popcorn, anyway. just so he doesn't waste it]
[with a click and hiss, Akira pops open the salted watermelon soda, scooting closer to Yusuke so he can watch as his thief rifles through the DVDs. they aren't titles from home, but all seem to have plot! none of them are porn! one is an action-adventure movie about a band of spies, one is an animated fantasy about a girl who befriends a dragon. . . etc etc]
I grabbed them from a secondhand shop at The Nest. I made sure they weren't something dirty masquerading as a legitimate film.
no subject
He picks up the one about the girl and a dragon and puts it in (honestly, it's the cover, it sold him, it was actually a wonderful shot), and settles back next to Akira on the couch. He helps himself to a soda as well, a blueberry-mint something that looks more like Windex than a drink. But it smells nice.]
Finding a movie that is not of a sexual nature here is close to impossible. I am surprised and intrigued.
no subject
[he says that like it's some kind of wise old adage when he's just some guy who wanted to spend a night watching not-porn with his teammate. taking the DVD from his companion, Akira pops up to slip the disc into the DVD player, before flopping back onto the couch and cozying up as close to Yusuke's side as he can. pressed solidly shoulder-to-shoulder]
[. . . in the wake of his recent loss. . . it helps, to be this close to his thief. surely there's no way Yusuke would also disappear on him, right. . .?]
no subject
[Yes, Akira is stubborn. More than normal people. And more than people who say they are stubborn. He's stubborn squared. Yusuke was witness to it plenty of times, not just now (the persistence got Yusuke to be a phantom thief, self-explanatory).
He's (probably) unaware of what Akira's recent loss was, but Yusuke didn't disappear from this place in a year, when many people had come and gone. He was certain that, if asked, he was stuck until this place either releases them or kills them. Or they blow it up, which will bring a different type of problems.]
no subject
[at any rate, those thoughts are the furthest thing from his mind as the movie begins with a beautifully voiced narrative, weaving the tale of a young girl and the dragon companion she raised from an egg. because during quiet moments like this, where nothing in the world matters but the movie in front of them and the thief at his side, Akira feels. . . at peace]
[and here is where he will stay for the duration of the film!! this is all he wanted: some quality Yusuke time that made him feel like they were at home again]
