[Yusuke almost chokes on his next sip. That's-- well--! It's embarrassing to hear. And coming from Akira too! Coddle him... take care of him... It doesn't sound bad. But, he can't put his friend in such position. He doesn't want to impose on him. Akira probably already has his hands full.]

Ahh, I don't think that will be necessary, thank you, [Yusuke's smile is soft, cheeks a bit red from embarrassment.]

Just spending time with you makes me feel better already.

[anomies]

You're sure? I don't mind, you know.

[ In fact, he can't imagine that he would find anything that Yusuke might ask of him difficult or objectionable. He'd do the Orobas pose in public, he's down for pretty much whatever. ]

Orobas pose... that made me laugh omg xDD

[Yusuke stares at Akira in amazement. He's going so much out of his way to help him. And it's not even serious injury- everyone gets bumps every now and then.]

You are... really kind person, Akira. Did you know that? [It makes everything that has befallen him seem so unfair and consequently makes Yusuke angry.

He picks up one of the treats from the boxes and offers it to him-] I think I should be the one to coddle you.

[anomies]

Me, kind? ... Not particularly, I don't think. You just make it easy.

[ When he's offered the macarons, he picks the brightest red one, naturally, and takes a generous bite out of it, and then just kind of. Pauses.

And then he makes this expression that screams: Oh, that was really delicious?! ]

[artcritic]

Hmm? How does one make it easy to be kind?

[Because he's confused. He was sure that kindness comes from one's heart. And Akira is overflowing with it. It leaves Yusuke in a daze at times.

He takes a bite of his treat as well, holding back a laugh-]

I'm glad you like it.

[anomies]

I do. Thanks for sharing, Yusuke.

[ And he'll keep eating as he ponders how to answer that first question, before finally deciding upon a proper response — ] Well, I always can feel your appreciation. That makes me feel like my efforts were worthwhile.

[artcritic]

[Why does everything Akira says make Yusuke so incredibly happy? Even simple stuff like this. It just makes Yusuke want to work harder both in metaverse and art.]

I will make sure to never disappoint you. Now then, [he finishes off his cup of coffee-] have you considered checking Morgana's tires after the last trip? Do they need changing or some kind of maintenance?

[anomies]

I don't think he'd like it if I suggested I should do maintenance on him...

[ He's not even really sure how to fix up a car, or if that would do something strange to Morgana's organs, or what. ]

But we have been running around Mementos a lot lately. Maybe a break's in order?

[artcritic]

If we get tired from walking around a lot, I can't imagine the strain on Morgana's paws. A break sounds good.

[Doing maintenance on Morgana... bathe him and fix his nails and wash his ribbon and comb his fur? He'd sparkle.]

[anomies]

A break it is, then. You should probably take it easy the next few days anyway, so it all works out.

[ And they're getting plenty strong, anyway, nor does Akira need to mug a bunch of Shadows for yen at the moment. ]

Since we'll be free, should we hang out?

[artcritic]

[Watching Akira mug shadows for money is always amusing to Yusuke. They always respond differently. And at times he admires how much he can squeeze out of some shadows.]

That sounds marvelous. What would you like to do?

[anomies]

Mm... how about a movie? There's a rental I still need to watch, if you don't mind rom-coms.

[ Because, well, actual movie theaters are expensive and Yusuke should probably use that money to feed himself... ]

[artcritic]

I don't mind it at all. Maybe it will spark some kind of idea...

[Artist soul never sleeps and seeks inspiration even from cheezy TV shows. He smiles-]

I'm really looking forward to it.

[anomies]

Alright, then, it's a date. Come over after school, then?

[ That timing also would make it convenient for him to suggest Yusuke stay even longer, for dinner, because he's an inkling the two of them are eating his dinner budget right now. ]

[artcritic]

[Akira would be right if he voiced his opinion. But Yusuke doesn't mind it. He loves when he can return a favor and buys something nice for Akira.]

Sounds like a great plan. [Yusuke's smile widens-] I'm really looking forward to it. It's been a while. [He wishes he could call Akira and have him pose and help with his art now and then (translated: a lot). But he's sure he'll just inconvenience him even more. He's already dragging him around, looking for answers on the free days.]

May I ask you when is your birthday?

[anomies]

My birthday?

[ He could make this easy, but. ]

I'll let you guess between two possibilities... Do you think I'm more of a summer child, or a winter one?

I am also guessing, idk when Akira is born xD

Hmm...

[Now that's a food for thought. He's in a deep thought for a few moments.]

I think you are somewhere in the middle. Not too hot but not too cold either. And brown color possesses certain elegance when you wear it... So, maybe Autumn? A warm, sunny autumn.

[ There's a pause, and then he laughs softly. ]

That's so accurate it's almost a little scary. It's in late September, usually right before it starts getting cold. Why do you ask, though?

[He got it!? Yusuke is as surprised as Akira. He didn't think he'd guess on the first try.]

That's- well, it was a lucky first guess. [He smiles.] I don't want to miss such important date. [Also, his gift takes time preparing.]

[anomies]

Ah, so you're the type that likes celebrating. [ Personally, he's not a big holidays type of person, but far be it from him to rain on a parade. ] But it's not something you need to go out of your way for... I'd be happy just to spend some time with you.

[artcritic]

Ah--! I think..? I think that inviting closest ones to a small celebration with cake is great and more than enough. At least for me. [And Akira and the rest of the thieves will probably be the only ones invited.]

I just want to have your present on time. I don't want to be late. [The next part takes him off guard slightly-] Just.. with me? [He's trying to keep his heart from bursting out of his chest.]

[anomies]

[ He'll have to keep that in mind for next year, then — a small gathering with cake. There's probably enough time for him to learn how to bake, if phantom thievery doesn't get in the way. ]

If that's alright with you. Even just a little time would be fine, you don't have to give up your entire day. [ There's a pause, and if he could wink, this is probably where he would aggressively wink. Alas, he cannot. ] Unless you want to, of course.

[artcritic]

[Now he just needs to find a right motif for Akira's present. What could he paint for him to like...?

Yusuke moves hair from his eyes, the request warming him from inside. It's weird. Maybe it's just coffee... yeah, just coffee!]

I'd... love to, actually. I am not that busy of a person- except if I'm running late with a painting for a class. [Shit, those are butterflies in his stomach, aren't they!?]n

[anomies]

Alright, then. And in return, I'll offer the same to you on your birthday, alright? I think that's only fair, although... my feelings won't be hurt if you don't want to take me upon on it.

[ He might be teasing just a bit, at this point. ]

Nonsense, I'd be extremely happy if you'd like to spend time with me on my birthday.

[Unless the teasing is really obvious, Yusuke won't notice it.]

I will make sure to have money for a cake.
